A deer who tumbled into an Encino neighborhood pool on Friday brought the whole community together for the rescue effort—along with a few musical numbers.
The buck, who got tangled in a pool covering and nearly drowned, caused a ruckus and stayed in the yard for nearly an hour. The pool’s owner, Eric Munn, and other residents pulled the tarp off and freed the deer, after which he finally struggled to dry land. Local animal control eventually found the deer and released it back into the woods.
Friendly resident Don Rubin told KABC that after the deer left the pool, he attempted to “corral” it, and then calm it down:
I wound up really talking to the animal for about 45 minutes to an hour to calm him down. I said, ‘You’re going to get out of this.’ I sang a few songs.
We hope those songs cheered the deer up after its long swim.
