An Oregon couple who filmed ponrographic videos with their children were arrested after someone on Facebook threatened to turn them in.
The couple, whose names are being withheld because of the sensitive nature of the case, allegedly filmed themselves performing sexual act with their two young daughters and distributed the footage around the east coast, The Associated Press reported.
The couple has been charged with the distribution of child pornography. If convicted, it is unclear what punishment the couple will face. In a similar case Thursday, two men were convicted of distributing child pornography in Georgia. Both men received 15-year sentences, reported the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.
The Department of Homeland Security had been searching for the Salem, Ore., couple for more than a month. They were found after a Facebook friend of theirs saw a photo of the mother that the agency had been circulating nationwide. That person messaged the couple Monday.
“That pressured them to go ahead and turn themselves in,” Homeland Security spokesman Andrew Munoz said. “Late Monday night, tips started rolling in.”
The pair contacted the police Tuesday morning.
The couple’s children have been placed in state protective custody. The couple appeared in Salem federal court Wednesday and were denied bail.
