Carly Rae Jepsen is probably not having a “good time” changing her passwords after police in Vancouver announced they have arrested a man for fraudulently accessing the singer’s computer.
British Columbia resident Christopher David Long, surrendered to police Friday for harassing a “local, well known celebrity.” The investigation, launched in March, led police to the 25-year-old Abbotsford denizen who is being charged with identity fraud, possession of stolen property, and fraudulently obtaining telecommunications services.
In an announcement from the Vancouver Police Department, the release did not identify the “local, well known celebrity” targeted by the hacker, but several Canadian-based news outlets, like CTV, have linked that description to the “Call Me Maybe” singer.
Last March, Jepsen’s Twitter account became the victim of a hacking where crude tweets were dispersed from it, including multiple tweets that read “Bieber my balls.” She quickly apologized to her followers who had to read that Urban Dictionary-approved slang term for fellatio, writing “Being hacked is no fun.” Sad face!
Long has been released with conditions and is due back in court on Jan. 4.
Jepsen’s Twitter feed has not commented on the arrest, but we’re sure she’s throwing back some cranberry apple martinis and singing “Tonight I’m Getting Over You” in celebration.
