A recent viral video showed a man dubbed “Burger King Kevin” slapping a Burger King employee. The incident resulted in the man’s arrest, TMZ reported.
Cops said that man, a customer named Austin Addison, was charged with harassment, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief.
The video shows that prior to the slap, Addison yells at the employee and the employee tells him he is on camera.
“Can’t fucking count but for robbery and stealing stuff,” Addison yells. “She needs to get the fuck out here before I get her put in jail for the rest of her life.”
TMZ initially reported that the incident began because Addison was short on chicken nuggets but later clarified that Addison walked into Burger King looking for an employee he knew. The video began after he threw his keys, and a witness tried to calm him down.
Fox News reported that Addison went on a “racist rant,” but according to the witness TMZ spoke to, this was not the case.
The video was posted on Twitter on Aug. 3. According to court records, the incident took place on June 26 in Pennsylvania, and Addison was arrested on Thursday.
Burger King told the Daily Dot in an emailed statement that the team member who was slapped was not seriously injured.
“We are deeply disturbed by the behavior displayed in this video,” the statement said. “Burger King takes the safety and fair treatment of team members and guests very seriously and we do not tolerate or condone violence of any kind in our restaurants.”
Addison’s social media accounts are no longer visible, but according to screenshots online, he was a cashier at Harbor Freight Tools. Heavy reported that Addison was no longer employed at the company at the time of the Burger King incident.
