No matter who you talk to, it seems as though they have a different view of what the best skincare brands are. Which makes sense, everyone’s skin is different. But I’m here to tell you that MyChelle Dermaceuticals is *actually* one of (if not THE) best natural skincare brand I’ve ever used. And as someone with sensitive skin that tends to change with the seasons, I’ve used a lot of different moisturizers, cleansers, exfoliators, etc–you name it and I’ve tried it. But nothing has yielded results as quickly or as effectively as MyChelle has.
Before I get into reviewing the specific products that I’ve had success with, I want to tell you a little bit about the company first.
Why is MyChelle Dermaceuticals one of the best skincare brands?
To me, what’s in my skincare products matters big time. I have a pretty unpleasant skin condition called rosacea, so my itty bitty blood vessels are much closer to the surface of my skin than they should be. So I not only have to worry about my sensitive skin reacting poorly to fragrances, but I also have to combat the negative side effects of rosacea: rough skin, red skin, patchy skin, itchy skin, dry skin, and my least favorite, bumpy skin. MyChelle Dermaceuticals obviously doesn’t know me, but it knows people like me exist, so it creates products using “clean science,” meaning the company only uses ingredients that are non-toxic and least likely to irritate the skin.
MyChelle is also transparent about what’s in the products it sells. Not only does the company proudly list all the ingredients on each product’s webpage, but it’s also listed on all the packaging. And you know what’s never in any of MyChelle Dermaceuticals’ products? Harsh and irritating chemicals like Phthalates, Parabens, Sulfates, Ureas, artificial fragrances and colors, Petroleum, and Gluten. MyChelle formulates everything without GMOs or animal testing. Vegan and cruelty-free products might not be high on everyone’s must-have list, but this is one point I refuse to back down on. Why should an animal have to suffer so I can have soft, supple, dewy skin? Cruelty-free products are a win no matter which way you look at it, and I’m glad this company seems to feel similarly.
That said, not all of the MyChelle Dermaceuticals line is vegan. Some products do contain honey, beeswax, yogurt extract, or milk protein. However, as I said before, the company is incredibly transparent about ingredients used, so if this is a major caveat for you, reference the product page or handy chart below.
My favorite natural skincare products
Of the dozens of eco-friendly skincare products offered by MyChelle Dermaceuticals, I’ve found success with a handful so far. I’ve detailed my experience with each product I’ve tried below, and you can be sure that as I try more I’ll update this list with my successes (and failures if there are any, but if the pattern keeps hold I really doubt there will be any).
1) Refining Sugar Cleanser
Gonna be real blunt for a second: when I first got this I was scared to try it. We’ve all seen the commentary surrounding St. Ives Apricot Scrub and Kylie Jenner’s Walnut Face Scrub (if you haven’t, avoid them as abrasive substances like pieces of fruit pits actually cause skin blemishes and other easily-avoided issues). But this cleanser has close to five stars on Amazon, so I had to see what it was about and man, the Amazon reviewers were right–this stuff is awesome.
I have sensitive skin that tends to get super dry so I’m not likely to use it every day, but the Refining Sugar Scrub isn’t harsh at all. I’m actually very upset with myself for not taking before and after pictures because the results were almost immediate. I only used it on my T-zone and my lips as I try to avoid exfoliating the areas where I have rosacea, but OMG!!!! It took all the dead, peeling skin and made it smooth and soft. It’s also worth mentioning that I have a strict regimen of K-beauty products and I’m not sure any of them compare to this. Before I used it my lips were BUSTED (I was getting over food poisoning and those post-fever lips are not hot) but after one use (yes, one use) my lips were as smooth as butter. It also rid me of the gross, ultra-dry irritation I had from blowing my nose approximately 500x a day (screw cold season!).
Price: $20 (regularly $25)
2) Ultra Hyaluronic Beauty Mist
I’ve been looking for a dupe of Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist and I think I may have found it: MyChelle Dermaceuticals Ultra Hyaluronic Beauty Mist. I use this once in the morning at the end of my skincare routine to “set” it and at night for the same reason. I also use it whenever my skin feels dry but after about two weeks of consistent use, I noticed that I had only needed to use it in the AM/PM, as my skin was more moisturized than it had been. My only critique is the spray bottle itself as it’s a very aggressive mist (if you even want to call it a mist) so make sure when you use it that you’re spraying it exactly where you need it.
Price: $15.87
3) Ultra Hyaluronic Hydrating Cream
I’m no stranger to hyaluronic acid, but this moisturizing cream taught me what a solid cream can really do for your face. As soon as I used it I noticed a huge difference in both skin texture and quality. It’s actually a relatively thick cream, but it doesn’t feel heavy on my face. I had sworn by Acure’s Soothing Cloud Cream in the past, but it just doesn’t hold up to the heavy duty hydration power of MyChelle’s Ultra Hyaluronic Hydrating Cream.
Price: $22.40 (regularly $28)
