Meanwhile in Canada… earlier this month police responded to an incident involving a 29-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man allegedly attempting to buy a can of soda with a stolen credit card at a convenience store in Spruce Grove. They super did not want to be arrested. And the best part is, the whole thing was caught on security cameras.

In the entertaining video—which is essentially the entire reason the Benny Hillifier was invented—you can see officers struggle to arrest the man, while his partner flees to the back room where she has a major lightbulb moment. Seemingly unaware of the cameras capturing her every move, the woman scaled a ladder and climbed into the space above the store’s ceiling tiles, which were clearly not load bearing.

You might be able to imagine what happens next.

She made it, oh, a few seconds before the tiles predictably gave way under her, sending her crashing through the ceiling and landing on her back on a display of merchandise below. To add insult to her literal injury (I mean, ouch), she was quickly apprehended by police who were alerted to her presence thanks to her dramatic entrance. Ocean’s 8 material, she ain’t.

At the very least, you have to admire their moxie, which is a lot more than most would have in this situation when faced with inevitable police custody.

Unfortunately for the pair, moxie likely won’t be considered in weighing punishment for the array of charges they now face, which include using a stolen credit card, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, obstructing a police officer, failure to comply with an undertaking, and mischief.
