Warner Bros dropped plenty of shocking announcements during its Time Warner Investor Day. In addition to confirming a Wonder Woman movie, Warner Bros gave fans the scoop on the planned to release the Fantastic Beasts trilogy.
Fans already knew they were getting the first installment of the film, which would be written by J.K. Rowling, on Nov. 18, 2016, and that it would be a trilogy. Now, Warner Bros has confirmed that Rowling will write screenplays for the second and third films, which will come out in 2018 and 2020 respectively with room for even more films after that. This was announced with at least 10 other projects—not including standalone Batman and Superman films—planned by Warner Bros in the next few years.
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will be “at least a trilogy,” says Tsujihara. First 3 movies in 2016, 2018 and 2020

The talk also confirmed that David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter films, will be returning to take the helm of Fantastic Beasts, reuniting him with Rowling, producer David Heyman, Steve Kloves, and Lionel Wigram.
With news out Wednesday about Wonder Woman and the other DC films, a standalone HBO service, and Friends coming to Netflix January 2015, fans have had a lot to process. And with perhaps the biggest bit of news to come out of Fantastic Beasts thus far (aside from the answer to Rowling’s cryptic tweet), they’ve got a lot to celebrate.
Between the WB movie lineup, “Fantastic Beasts” announcement and “Friends” on Netflix, today is a pretty great day for TV/Movies.

However, not everyone is excited about the news.
Welp that’s it, folks, it’s all over. Yates has apparently been confirmed for Fantastic Beasts. Bye, going into mourning.

Though lead actors were announced most other projects on Wednesday, there’s still no word on who will star as Newt Scamander.
