Prepare to swear your allegiance to House Forrester, Game of Thrones fans.
The big news delivered today by Telltale Games reveals that the studio’s upcoming Game of Thrones game will focus on House Forrester, which is located in the North of Westeros. The game is based on the Game of Thrones HBO series, but it will reflect background from the novels. House Forrester is a canonical but little-known house within George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire universe. It is sworn to the more notable House Glover of Deepwood Motte.
The game will take players from the end of the third season of the show to right before the beginning of season 5. That would be around the time of the Purple Wedding, Jon and the Night’s Watch getting ready to repel the Wildling invasion, Sansa escaping from King’s Landing, Daenerys Targaryen conquering Meereen, and House Bolton rising to supremacy in the North.
Telltale Games is popular for creating episodic game adaptations of the Fables comics series and The Walking Dead. It usually puts the player in the role of a single character. For the Game of Thrones game, the player will not only play multiple roles, but the results of choices made in those different roles will weave into one another. That means ramifications of decisions may be visited upon the player faster than usual for a Telltale game.
Telltale has yet to issue a specific release date for the first episode of their Game of Thrones series, but it’s “soon.” The game will be released on iOS, PC, PlayStation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. In other words, on practically every platform there is.
