Chris Hemsworth has been cast as the receptionist in the female-driven Ghostbusters reboot, which is basically the best casting decision of all time.
Whenever Hollywood tries to make a serious drama movie with Chris Hemsworth as the leading man, the results are kind of meh. But Chris Hemsworth playing a comedy hunk in a movie directed by Paul Feig, who directed SPY and The Heat? Now that’s a stroke of genius.

When the female-led Ghostbusters was first announced, it generated a lot of sexist backlash on Twitter. Casting Thor in a traditionally feminine role like this—a role that will undoubtedly involve him answering phones and looking pretty while Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy are the action heroes—is the perfect comeback to the sexist mindset that led a certain subset of the Web to shout about women somehow “ruining” the Ghostbusters franchise.
For context, here’s Janine Melnitz, the original Ghostbusters receptionist.
