Who follows you on Twitter is sometimes more important than what you tweet.

At least that’s the case with Kelly Oxford, a writer and mother of three, who had her single-camera TV comedy bought by NBC.

The untitled show “is about a divorcing couple and the wife’s overbearing sister, who try to raise their families together,” reported Reuters.

Oxford’s 267,000 followers on Twitter include celebrities like Howard Stern, Ryan Gosling, and Jonah Hill

On Tuesday Oxford, whose upcoming book is titled “Everything is Perfect When You’re a Liar,” took to her blog to set the record straight on how she landed the gig with NBC.

“This year I hustled and pitched like an asshole and left my kids with my family so I could meet with execs all over LA and this project came to fruition. I also wrote an entire book (not half a book.)

Yes, I tweet, but I’m a writer who pounds the pavement and rents cars and drives all over LA with all of her stupid ideas who also happens to tweet,” she wrote. “The ‘non famous person followed by famous people’ twitter thing sets me apart from the thousands of other writers out there working on pilots.”
