WWE wrestler CM Punk has been an outspoken opponent of pop star Chris Brown since the singer’s very public reemergence at the Grammy’s two Sundays ago.

After hearing that Brown called him out as a steroid user in a Tweet that’s since been deleted, Punk fired back with a dose of vitriol usually reserved for the wrestling ring.

“Chris Brown wants to throw stones my way now,” the DIY and noted straight-edge wrestler said in a Twitvid posted to his Twitter account (@CMPunk) last night. “That’s fine, but put some gloves on and get in the ring. I will choke you out, and I will make you feel as weak and as powerless and scared and alone as any woman who has had the misfortune of knowing a sad, cowardly, little boy such as yourself.”

It was one of the most popular tweets to get posted on Twitter last night, drawing over 17,000 retweets and notes, according to Topsy, a social media analytics tool. According to Twitvid.com, the 1:52 video has been viewed over 400,000 times, with most viewers coming away from the video with a resounding amount of support for Punk’s message.

“I don’t always agree with @CMPunk,” wrote WWE Interim General Manager John Laurinaitis (@WWERawGM) in a tweet that received 974 retweets. “But when I do, it’s probably about @chrisbrown.”

ESPN anchor Robert Flores (@RoFloESPN) agreed, writing “Man, @CMPunk is just as good w spoken word as he is w his fists. Chris Brown should probably just stop now.”

Maybe he will. In a tweet that received 1,112 retweets last night, Brown wrote “today will be the last day I bring @cmpunk existence up!The confrontations that people continuously bring my way are very amusing.”

Brown posted one more tweet on the subject: “Cuz honestly, that shit is too time consuming to argue wit every person who has their own issues to deal with!”

Silence may be golden for Brown here, but it’s an unfortunate outcome for Minnesota native Michael Shaw (@vikingshaw), who had a few suggestions for Punk’s proposal.

“@chrisbrown vs @cmpunk,” he wrote. “MMA rules..3 x 5 minute rounds…let that do the talking”.
