It may look like football but it’s really your packages being delivered

If you’re sending a fragile package this holiday season, don’t watch these videos.

If you’re doing your Christmas shopping online, make sure you only buy durable gifts.

Otherwise, you might end up like goobie55. The YouTube user uploaded a surveillance video of a FedEx employee “delivering” his new computer monitor… by tossing it over a six foot fence.

“The sad part is that I was home at the time with the front door wide open,” he wrote in the video’s description. “All he would have had to do was ring the bell on the gate. Now I have to return my monitor since it is broken.”

Sadly, goobie55’s story is not uncommon. His video joins a host of YouTube surveillance videos depicting FedEx, UPS and USPS delivery people kicking, tossing and dropping packages. And delivery services can’t simply blame the holiday rush: these videos were recorded year round.

It’s not just videos, either. Today, the Consumerist posted a reader’s FedEx delivery photo, in which the box in question had been tossed haphazardly on a neighbor’s balcony.

“When I arrived home, I noticed my neighbor’s package on the balcony and took photos,” the reader told Consumerist. “Since he lives on the top floor, he had to pull out a ladder to take the package down as the lower level neighbor was on vacation.”

Since goobie55 uploaded his video on Monday, it’s been viewed 55,000 times and linked on Reddit and the Telegraph. Viewers, many of whom also did their shopping online this season, were shocked. Some had delivery horror stories of their own.

“The sad part is that most of the time they break your packages, they DON’T get fired. Had a UPS guy drop my package labeled ‘Fragile’ about 4 feet from the shelf of his truck to the floor of the truck, right in front of me,” commented drago884.

“I’d like to see the look on the faces of some of these drivers if a delivery driver were to pull up to their home and treat their shit the same way,” commented sammy2trees.

Here at the Daily Dot, we’ll be ordering all our deliveries from Carlos the Mailman from now on.
