Here at the Daily Dot, we swap GIF images with each other every morning. Now we’re looping you in. In the Morning GIF, we feature a popular—or just plain cool—GIF we found on Reddit, Canvas, or elsewhere on the Internet.
Cliterary phenomenon Fifty Shades of Grey (with its two sequels) has been hailed as the greatest thing since … well, actually it hasn’t. Not ever. The breast-selling threesome has pumped out an estimated 20,000,000 copies, but though they’ve made the author rich, they are the black sheep of erotica: neither mundane enough to be straight romance, nor kinky enough to be part of the true fetish world.
Susie Bright, iconic sex blogger, author, and editor, has created an Amazon list of recommended reading for Fifty Shades fans, possibly hoping to get them to raise their standards.
And, of course, dozens, if not hundreds, of book bloggers have given their opinions on the books, for good or ill, but as of today, it’s over. We’re done.
Aspiring photographer Katrina Lumsden of Charlotte, Mich., has done what The New York Times could not: She has created the definitive review—not only of Fifty Shades of Grey, but possibly of any book ever.
Because GIFs. Twenty-five of them, no less.
Posted on Goodreads, the review has gotten 3,391 likes and 1,514 comments in less than 24 hours.
It’s never easy choosing one GIF to top them all, but in keeping with the subject matter we’re going to have to go with this one of Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Elaine from Seinfeld giving herself a Champagne facial. See, girls, you don’t need a man after all.
