Is there anything more magical than designing an object on screen, and seeing it formed right in front of your eyes?
If you’ve never witnessed the sorcery of a 3D printer, today’s your lucky day. We’re having a 3D printer giveaway, so you have the chance to create some amazing stuff and get your geek on. The prize? A Makerbot Replicator Mini, one of the most popular at-home 3D printers currently available.
The Makerbot Replicator is compact enough for personal users, but can still make objects up to nearly five inches high. It works by putting down layers of a plastic filament until your design emerges fully formed. For the uninitiated: the filament comes in thread-like spools, and many different colors to choose from.
On top of that, this Makerbot has a tolerance of 200 microns. In layman’s terms: The printer is accurate to the thickness of a card, meaning you’ll always get printed products true to your vision.
Want to start designing? Use the free Makerbot app for iPad or desktop CAD software to start. You can also check out the Makerbot Thingiverse store, which offers many templates free for download. You can send these instructions to the printer with one tap, via USB or Wi-Fi.
For your chance to start a building spree, simply head over to the giveaway page and hit the big green button to enter. Shares get you more entries, so make sure to tell your friends via social media. Best of luck!
