President Donald Trump on Wednesday sat before a giant poster showing himself and the words “Sanctions are Coming” at a Cabinet meeting in the White House.
The poster is a Game of Thrones reference that plays off the well-known catch phrase “Winter is coming.” Trump tweeted the same movie poster-like image of himself in November, meaning that sanctions against Iran would be underway, according to the Cut.

Still, Iran wasn’t a main topic of discussion at Wednesday’s meeting, and the meaning of the poster’s presence there wasn’t clear. As BuzzFeed News notes, Trump’s discussion mostly focused on his proposed border wall and his claim that “walls work.” The Cabinet meeting came after more than a week of a government shutdown, in part due to a stalemate over funding for a wall.
He printed out his own ridiculous Game of Thrones meme and had it laid out on the table in front of him, in case you were worried 2019 wasn’t going to get real, real fucking stupid. https://t.co/aMT5nc7ZfS

As BuzzFeed also pointed out, the irony of the poster lies in a key detail from Game of Thrones (warning: spoilers ahead). A fictional wall in the show was destroyed by a dragon at the end of the last season proving that, in fact, walls don’t always work.
