President Donald Trump has long used building a wall as one of his major policy positions, eliciting chants from his supporters. However, on Wednesday he added a new twist—a nursery rhyme.
The president has been at odds with Democratic lawmakers over funding his desired border wall along the country’s southern border for weeks, resulting in the longest government shutdown in history.
On Wednesday, in what appears to be an attempt to drum up support for his wall, Trump twice tweeted out a new slogan, “build a wall & crime will fall,” promising that it would be the “new theme” for the next two years heading into the 2020 presidential election.
“BUILD A WALL & CRIME WILL FALL! This is the new theme, for two years until the Wall is finished (under construction now), of the Republican Party. Use it and pray!” the president wrote, then adding in another tweet three minutes later: “BUILD A WALL & CRIME WILL FALL!”
The rhyming nature of the new slogan, or “theme” as the president put it, was mocked online.
Oh, look! He’s a poet and didn’t know it. 🙄#nowall https://t.co/gU3jSEPmsp

Other people made their own rhyming slogans.
IF YOU BUILD IT TALL, WE CAN GO TO THE MALL, AND SAY HI TO PAUL, IT WILL BE FUN FOR ALL! https://t.co/q9cqO8geLP

Regardless of the mockery, its a safe bet the president will lead a “build a wall and crime will fall” chant at his next reelection rally.
