Crime? Should you do more of it, or less of it? An age old question, indeed.

On his show, Wednesday night, Fox News host Sean Hannity lobbied for President Donald Trump and his associates to obstruct justice and refuse to cooperate with Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation by destroying evidence. You know, doing a crime.

Hannity argues that since Hillary Clinton deleted emails from her now-infamous server and didn’t face federal charges, Trump’s associates would be justified in doing the same.

Hannity’s suggestion comes after former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort was accused by Mueller of using encrypted messaging apps to text witnesses in the probe about their testimony.

“Take your phones and bash ’em with a hammer into itsy-bitsy pieces, use BleachBit, remove the SIM cards, and then take the pieces and hand it over to Robert Mueller,” Hannity said.

Which, cool. Nothing like lobbying for the complete breakdown of established norms and rule of law. Why don’t none of us ever follow any law? I’m sure game.

But while it’s possible that may ultimately prevent some semblance of evidence from making it’s way to Mueller, it would almost assuredly cast a cloud of suspicion and guilt over the people who did it. You know, like the one that hung over Hillary Clinton during the entire 2016 election and maybe cost her the presidency.

Of course, since it’s truly terrible advice, Hannity wanted everyone to know he was joking.

He really doesn’t seem like he’s joking.
