Just as Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney spoke out against the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act and vowed to repeal the law if elected President, an old video that appeared online today showed Romney delivering the opposite message.
The 2006 video, posted earlier today by American Bridge 21st Century, shows the former Mass. governor speaking in favor of the individual mandate, adding to the list of Romney’s flip-flops.
“With regards to the individual mandate, the individual responsibility program that I proposed, I was very pleased that the compromise between the two houses includes the personal responsibility mandate,” Romney said. “That is essential for bringing the health care costs down for everyone and getting everyone the health insurance they need.”
The New York Times reported that Romney believes the individual mandate would work at the state level but not the federal level.
