White nationalist Richard Spencer’s wife, Nina Kroupiianova, has accused him of being “physically, emotionally, verbally and financially abusive” in divorce filings submitted in Montana, BuzzFeed News reports.

Koupriianova married Spencer in August 2010, and the pair have two young children.

In the allegations, Koupriianova describes “being hit, being grabbed, being dragged around by her hair, being held down in a manner causing bruising, and being prevented from calling for help” by Spencer.

Many of these incidents, Koupriianova claims, were witnessed by their children. Her 78-page affidavit contains text messages and emails between the two as exhibits as well as pictures of bruising she claims was caused by Spencer.

“The only language women understand is violence,” Koupriianova alleges the white nationalist regularly told her.

In the filing, Koupriianova expresses concern over Spencer’s increased “alcohol consumption” as a cause for his allegedly “aggressive and erratic behavior.” Koupriianova also makes reference to Spencer’s status as a controversial and prominent figure on the far-right, where he advocates for a white ethnostate and for “peaceful ethnic cleansing.”

As a result of his political activities, she says, his family have become “targets of violence” and that Spencer has kept a loaded gun “accessible by children” in his bedroom since he was attacked by anti-fascists after President Donald Trump’s inauguration event.

According to the documents, Koupriianova “has been reluctant to call police or seek an order of protection for fear of further reprisal” from her husband.

BuzzFeed reports that lawyers for both Spencer and Koupriianova had been denied repeated attempts to seal the filings by a judge in in Flathead County District Court.

In his own 48-page affidavit, Spencer says he “denies each, every, and all allegations,” including allegations made about his alcohol consumption.

Koupriianova’s attorney declined comment to BuzzFeed News. Read the full report here.
