One year ago today, protesters angry about economic and social inequalities took to Zuccotti Park in New York City. The group called itself Occupy Wall Street and took over the lower Manhattan space until a forced eviction on Nov, 15, 2011. Their protests against corporate greed made headlines and sparked a number of protests in cities all across the country.

On its anniversary, those who were actively involved with the protest, as well as supporters, took to Twitter to mark the occasion. Using the hashtag #S17, the occupiers shared their memories of what had transpired after the first tents had gone up in Zuccotti Park.
