He’s the president of the United States. He can cry if he wants to.
In a YouTube video uploaded to the BarackObamadotcom channel, recently reelected President Barack Obama can be seen tearing up midway through a touching address to his campaign staff, one delivered on Wednesday after the election.
Throughout the five-minute speech, the president noted how proud he was of his team, saying “What comes to mind is not that you remind me of myself. It’s the fact that you are so much better than I was [at your age] in so many ways.
“You’re smarter. You’re better organized. You’re more effective. I’m absolutely confident that all of you are going to do amazing things in all your lives.”
That’s when the commander in chief became choked up.
Obama broke into brief tears while saying “what you guys have done means the work that I’m doing is important. I’m proud of that. I’m proud of you,” taking a brief moment to collect himself and even going for the time-tested finger rub on the inside corner of his eye.
“Your journey is just beginning,” he said. “You’re just starting. What we do in the next four years will pale in comparison to what you all will accomplish in the years and years to come.”
Yeah, but will it beat being so good at your jobs that you made the president cry? Doubt it!
