The curtain has fallen and the balloons have dropped on the 2012 Democratic National Convention, and now the whole world is asking itself the One Big Question: Where is that woman ever going to wear the “Obama” dress again?
Okay, maybe not. But while the election is still distant enough for its outcome to be obscured in the mists, one thing is crystal clear today: that former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm gives great GIF.
Her speech was an incredibly sustained, automobile-themed metaphor almost as ornate as it was rhetorically captivating: air steering, hitch-hiking thumbs, fist-pumping, invisible lasso whirling (Wonder Woman style), and, daringly, the one gesture most associated with … another female governor, one slightly less likely to get a standing ovation at the DNC.
Stealing a political opponent’s trademark gesture? Or just liberating it in the name of the people? Which is it? Something tells us she wants to leave that to our imagination.
