Here at the Daily Dot, we swap GIF images with each other every morning. Now we’re looping you in. In the Morning GIF, we feature a popular—or just plain cool—GIF we found on Reddit, Canvas, or elsewhere on the Internet.
The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart and Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly promised netizens a live debate Saturday night, but what many saw instead were never ending loading screens due to overloaded servers.
O’Reilly said that refund information will be made available this week, but in the meantime, they have made the entire debate available for download. While thousands of people complained on Twitter and Facebook about losing $4.95 well into Sunday, Buzzfeed’s Mike Hayes was able to capture some of its hilarious moments for GIF Hound, a popular Tumblr that reports the news using GIF animations.
The debate featured plenty of gags, like Stewart’s height-adjustable chair, and big bright notecards from O’Reilly that he held up when trying to make a point.
The two political pundits weighed in on topics like foreign policy, former President George W. Bush, and welfare, which is something O’Reilly claims is abused by people when times get rough.
“Obama hasn’t increased and expanded your ability to get welfare and food stamps by broadening the pool,” Stewart said, according to the Washington Post. “More people have fallen into the social safety net that exists there, because, as we talked about, $2.5 trillion of money went out of our economy in the bank crisis in two weeks.”
About 1,500 people attended the event live at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. But for the millions more who wanted to see it online and couldn’t, these GIFs from Hayes may do the trick.
