Kim Guilfoyle, the Trump campaign official and girlfriend of Donald Trump Jr., gave a very passionate and aggressive speech during the first night of the Republican National Convention—and there is one character everyone online is comparing her to.
Guilfoyle’s speech touched on what you’d expect for: “freedom,” “liberty,” the “American Dream,” and Democrats. However, her delivery of the speech caught many people’s attention—such as CNN’s Jake Tapper and Wolf Blitzer.
When Blitzer called Guilfoyle’s speech “forceful,” Tapper quipped back that “forceful is one word for it.”
Aside from that, the speech sparked a comparison to a character than many 90s kids may remember: Rita Repulsa.
Rita Repulsa is a villain in the “Power Rangers” franchise, and on Tuesday morning, the character’s name was trending on Twitter following Guilfoyle’s speech.
A lot of people were making comparisons between Guilfoyle and Repulsa.
“Saw Rita Repulsa trending and got confused, realized it was about the RNC and was amused,” one Twitter user wrote.
A lot of others were chiming in as well:
But not everyone was here for the compassion.
A lot of people on Twitter came to the character’s defense, arguing that Repulsa “does not deserve to be disrespected like this.”
Given the number of memes and chatter online after the first night of the RNC, it will probably be like this all week.
