Pope Francis‘ recent proclamation that man-made global warming is a devastating threat to humanity has put Catholic Republicans in a tough spot, and Jon Stewart is delighted to see it.
Stewart spent the first segment of Thursday night’s Daily Show bouncing from Republican science denier to Republican science denier, lambasting Jeb Bush, Rick Santorum, Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas), and Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) for telling the Pope that he should stick to religion and leave the policymaking to the professionals.
As Stewart points out, though, highlighting the world’s ills and proposing solutions that respect all of humankind is, well, exactly the Pope’s job.
