Trump takes key battleground Ohio

Buckeye state goes red for the first time since 2004.

Presidential candidate Donald Trump has won Ohio with 53 percent of the vote. For the last two elections, Ohio has voted Democratic.

It was crucial swing for the Republican challenger: No Republican has won the presidency without the Buckeye state since Abraham Lincoln. Republicans targeted Ohio this campaign season, holding the party’s national convention in Cleveland this summer.

According to NBC News, 49 percent of exit poll voters thought Trump was better-suited for the economy.
