Melania Trump donned an elegant white dress, and yes, President Donald Trump‘s inaugural dance meant swaying to Frank Sinatra’s iconic “My Way” Friday night at the Liberty Ball. The president reportedly picked the song himself.
“It’s a tremendous honor to have the first dance with Melania,” he said before the dance.
Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen joined them onstage first, then the other adult Trump children with their spouses. Ivanka Trump’s husband Jared Kushner will be a senior White House adviser to his father-in-law.
“We knew we were gonna win,” Trump said beforehand. “Today we had a great day.
“Now the work begins,” he added. “There’s no games.”
About 30 minutes later, the first couple arrived at the Freedom Ball, played on by “Hail to the Chief.” It’s the second of three official balls the Trumps are slated to address Friday night. They also danced to “My Way.”
“Should I keep the Twitter going or not?” Trump said at the Freedom Ball, playfully. “You know it’s a way of bypassing dishonest media.”
As the “My Way” lyric goes, a song written by Paul Anka for Sinatra in the late ’60s, “I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway.”
