Cameo nightclub shooting Cincinnati mass shooting gun violence

One person was killed and 14 more were injured early Sunday morning in a nightclub shooting in Cincinnati, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. The city’s assistant police chief said a motive for the country’s worst mass shooting of 2017 has not been determined, but it doesn’t appear to be terrorism.

It’s the 71st mass shooting in the U.S. this year with the largest number of victims, according to Gun Violence Archive.

“It was a chaotic scene,” Sgt. Eric Franz said, via the Enquirer. “The club was completely packed.”

The shooting at the Cameo nightclub occurred just after 1am ET on Sunday, according to WLWT. Police said there were hundreds of people inside the club at the time of the incident, and officers initially believed there were multiple shooters before it was revised to one shooter.

“Many of them fled, unfortunately. Many of the witnesses fled, but everyone that we can identify is being interviewed,” assistant police chief Paul Neudigate said.
