Quiet modesty has never been Anthony Scaramucci‘s thing, so it’s not surprising the former White House Communications Director is reportedly boasting that the White House wants him back.
But it’s a story the Mooch is calling “fake news.”
According to the Daily Beast, Scaramucci, whose brief tenure in the White House was an iconic lesson in self-defeating self-promotion, is bragging about how much Trump’s inner circle misses him.
The former White House communications director has privately told friends and associates that the president and other members of the Trump family, including White House adviser and first daughter Ivanka Trump, miss him and want him back in the West Wing. Three sources close to Scaramucci have independently told The Daily Beast that the Mooch continues to brag that he and President Donald Trump talk on the phone, and that the Mooch believes his resurrection in Trump-world could be imminent.
The Daily Beast reported that people have said Mooch claims he’s also flying to either D.C. or Florida to consult with the president. But after the story dropped Sunday night, Scaramucci took to blasting the Daily Beast for its reporting.
THE BEST PEOPLE: Donald Trump & Ivanka Trump want @Scaramucci back — at least that’s what the Mooch is telling people, per @thedailybeast, which has him bragging that he continues to talk on the phone with Trump. https://t.co/yOOMYp9UzL

Don’t believe fake news. No standards left in journalism anymore. All anonymous sources. @thedailybeast this week’s fake news award. https://t.co/Y4rr1mw9t2

When challenged about saying there are no standards left in journalism anymore, the multimillionaire played the victim card.
Incredibly damaging advice to the country Anthony. Please reconsider

Todd when you are a victim of it you too will call it for what it is. Great hearing from you. Happy New Year. https://t.co/CRywNfbAIN

Scaramucci also retweeted a friend of his who said the story was nonsense.
.@lachlan @swin24 I am a friend of @Scaramucci that is in touch with him almost daily about his future plans. I can assure you they don’t include a return to @realDonaldTrump #WhiteHouse Your editor @samstein can verify this is true

Although he is railing against fake news, Scaramucci’s most notable moment since leaving the West Wing was when his media venture openly pondered how many Jews had been killed in the Holocaust.
