Australian dollmaker Betty Strachan isn’t about pretty princess playthings. She wants to show you the realities of motherhood.
A few weeks ago, she repainted and restyled a Barbie into a legit tired-looking pregnant doll, complete with a proportionate, protruding belly.
“I realized that it was really something that should be available—because, like most things that society deems unacceptable, educating children is the way to erase the stigma behind it,” she told the Huffington Post.
What’s most admirable about the doll is that her eyes are glossed over, her hair tied in a half-ass ponytail, and her body draped in some comfy-looking cotton. That is what new motherhood is really all about.
