Popular YouTuber and Twitch streamer Dream had his address leaked online after posting a fake face reveal.
Dream—a popular YouTuber who plays Minecraft—has never revealed his face to the public though fans have long been antsy for him to show his real identity.
Many thought Dream finally caved after he posted a short video to his Twitter on Friday showing a person (believed to be the real Dream) with a cartoon logo over his face. At the end of the video, a card appears that reads, “Mr Beast YouTube Rewind” followed by the phrase, “4pm EST January 1st.”
During the YouTube rewind event, however, the same clip of Dream with the sign in his face plays. When he drops it to reveal his face, a ball with the iconic Dream smiley is still covering his face.
After the fake reveal, a group of fans set out to dox Dream. As reported by Dexerto, after Dream posted a photo of his kitchen to his second Twitter account, some fans were able to use the online real estate marketplace Zillow to find the location of his home residence.
One Twitter user, Dexerto reports, even gave away the address to anyone who asked until they were reported and deactivated.
While some Dream fans are calling others out for stalkerish and dangerous behavior, others are saying that he deserved it.
“He fostered it by manipulating a hype to his audience that he would reveal his face, but lied,” Twitter user EmblemResiden wrote, according to gamerant.com.
Dream himself has not commented on the doxing situation on any of his public social media accounts, but gamerant reports that no photos of his face or residence have surfaced online so far.
