Playboi Carti announced last night that his highly anticipated new album, Whole Lotta Red, will drop on Christmas Day.
The Atlanta rapper shared a pre-order link for Whole Lotta Red and the album’s Art Dealer-designed cover on his social media accounts. On Twitter, he captioned the announcement, “AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I t0LD U ! I L0v3 u PRE 0RDeR NOW.”
Fans praised the album art for Whole Lotta Red, which pays homage to the famed late-’70s punk fanzine Slash.
Carti also dropped a batch of Whole Lotta Red merchandise, including t-shirts, hoodies, shorts, and hats. The shirt designs include images of black cats, KKK members, and an upside-down, decapitated Jesus.
Upon seeing the merch rollout, people started tweeting jokes and memes about the Satanic and horror themes on the Whole Lotta Red apparel and album cover. The idea that Carti would drop such devilish material on Christmas of all days made people feel a certain way, even if just for the comedy.
Of course, people made jokes suggesting the devil is probably enjoying Carti’s latest creations for Whole Lotta Red.
Some fans felt that Carti’s new merch would attract all sorts of unwanted evil that they would be forced to ward off.
Others joked that Kanye West, rumored executive producer of Whole Lotta Red and reformed gospel musician, would not approve of the rapper’s new Satanic threads.
Some of Cardi’s more pious fans might have felt a little sheepish copping his new merch.
And, of course, others suggested the rapper—and anybody who bought his merch—might have some explaining to do with the Man Upstairs.
Whole Lotta Red comes out Friday. Buy or stream at your own risk.
