We may now call lip-syncing an acceptable art form.
Thanks to the likes of Lip Sync Battle—a game on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that is now its own show—this craze has made a cushy home out of YouTube, with similar parody videos taking the Internet by storm. A notable example are those produced by Australian comedy trio SketchShe, whose boob-grabbing rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” inspired watchers to come up with their own flawless performance. A new group has risen to the occasion.
In the video below, Russian parodists Bonya & Kuzmich invited someone’s grandpa into their vehicle and launched into a SketchShe-inspired routine. Their playlist is impressive, hitting modern hits such as “Uptown Funk,” “Shake It Off,” and “Chandelier,” as well as paying homage to forgotten favorites like “Barbie Girl” and “Macarena.”
However, the most impressive thing about Bonya & Kuzmich isn’t their musical preferences. It’s not their spot-on costumes nor their hilarious dance moves. It’s the fact that they are actually driving the car while performing their songs, a bold move that effectively ups the ante on any group of three hoping to get on the lip-syncing-in-vehicle bandwagon.
