The “WAP” rapper this week celebrated her followers for staying with her through noteworthy troubles during 2020, topping it off with the announcement of her official debut album.

The caption reads: “Hotties, I first want to say thank you for riding with me, growing with me, and staying down with me since my first mixtape Rich Ratchet! The Houston native, born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, covered herself with a few mockup newspapers, which could be Easter eggs about the album’s content.

With Good News as a year-capping surprise, Megan has had a mostly winning year. “Savage” and “WAP” (which featured Cardi B) were smash hits. She wrote an essay for the New York Times too, “Why I Speak Up For Black Women.” She earned rave reviews for her performance on Saturday Night Live and started a scholarship fund for women students of color.

However, the biggest news came in a July incident where Megan was allegedly shot in the foot by rapper Tory Lanez in the Hollywood Hills. The Canadian artist was arrested on a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, plus one felony count (each) of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered handgun in a vehicle.

Lanez is due in court next week.
