Low-quality taco lovers and stoners rejoice: Taco Bell has plans to start online delivery.
In a recent interview with Nation’s Restaurant News, Taco Bell CEO Brian Niccol said the company was in the process of testing delivery and catering services. The goal is to position Taco Bell as the brand of choice for #millenials and turn it into an “on-demand brand.”
But don’t rush to order chalupa right away. Taco Bell’s online ordering isn’t ready just yet.
“Even though it’s the No. 1 request from consumers, we have to make sure we can give them an experience that’s consistent with Taco Bell, and that’s what we’re working through,” Niccol said. “We have to figure it out, and I can tell you right now we don’t have it figured out.”
Niccol did say that some form of online ordering would be in test markets by the end of the year.
“I know a lot of people are talking about creating modern fast-food brands, and a lot are trying. But we’re already on our way,” he said. “We’re continuing to move Taco Bell into its own category.”
A loyalty program is also in the works, because there are no fast food fans more loyal than Taco Bell’s.
