Following Reddit’s efforts to ban nonconsensual intimate images from circulating on the site, Twitter has updated its terms of service to ban the sharing of intimate content without consent of the person in the picture.

Often called “revenge porn,” miffed exes or malicious attackers post intimate images online without the consent of the subject in an effort to harm an individual. These photos can eventually make their way around the Internet, and it can be hard to erase them entirely.

Twitter’s terms of service now state, “You may not post intimate photos or videos that were taken or distributed without the subject’s consent.”

If you see an unauthorized photo of you, you can report it. But as Fusion reports, the person in the image must report it themselves, and because Twitter has no way yet of taking down all the instances of the same photo by matching images to tweets, you have to report each one.

Twitter’s ban on posting such content is the latest in a string of attempts to protect user privacy and safety on the social network, which include streamlining abuse reporting and letting others report some types of abuse on a user’s behalf. Recently Dick Costolo admitted the company “sucks” at dealing with such abuse, and the company continues to improve policies around the safety of users.
