Antonio Banderas joins the likes of Tom Hanks and Idris Elba as the latest celebrity to test positive for coronavirus, using his 60th birthday to inform his fans of his diagnosis via Twitter.
Banderas wrote about his diagnosis in Spanish. Below is an English translation of his tweet.
Greetings to you all.
I want to make public that today, August 10, I am obligated to celebrate my 60th birthday quarantining after having tested positive for the COVID-19 disease, caused by the coronavirus.
I would like to add that I find myself relatively well, just a little more tired than usual, and trusting that I’ll recover as soon as possible by following the medical directions that I hope will allow me to overcome this infectious process that I suffer and that’s affecting so many people around the planet.
I’m going to take advantage of this time alone to read, write, rest, and keep making plans to give weight to these 60 years of age, which I arrive at with extra energy and hope.
Sending you all a big hug.
Keen to reassure his fans, the actor reports that his symptoms are mild, and that he intends to take the time in quarantine to self-reflect and plan for the future.
His fans wished him a recovery with stills and memes from some of his most well-known roles, including The Mask of Zorro and Assassins.
Admittedly some better than others.
