It could be anything.

Someone’s pet cockatoo is mad and it’s not gonna take it anymore.

At least that’s what it looks like to the untrained eye after watching a video of a cockatoo screeching at the top of its lungs, or—as FedeTV put it in the video’s title—“yelling absolute nonsense.” The owner isn’t exactly doing anything to soothe the bird’s cries, but perhaps he or she is simply used to it and it’s just best to let the cockatoo carry on until it calms down.

Until we get a universal translator that allows us to understand our avian pets, we can only make totally scientific guesses as to why it’s distressed:

  • He found his owners doing something terrible.

  • He just found out about Bill O’Reilly allegedly pulling a Brian Williams.

  • To the contrary of how it sounds, he’s happy to see his owner.

  • He’s still peeved about the snubs for Selma and The Lego Movie.

  • It’s an early demonstration of what happens if you post The Walking Dead spoilers to Facebook.

  • He’s just as excited to watch red pandas play in the snow as you are.

  • Like any pet, he wants more attention from his owner.

  • “Just turn your phone around to landscape view, why don’t you?!”

  • He’s actually just hungry.

These are just a few of our guesses, but as many cockatoo owners know, it really could be anything.
