2020 is not our year.

Unless your name is SARS-CoV-2, 2020 is likely not going to be “your year.” It’s not anyone’s year. No one can leave their house.

A new meme has been born to grieve all the plans that the coronavirus canceled in 2020. The “my plans/2020” format is set up to accommodate film references, other memes, and just about anything in between. Just like the “expectation/reality” meme before it, “my plans/2020” is here to encompass all of your disappointment.

For Twitter user @TomZohar, his plans and 2020 were like Emily’s own plan to become Miranda Priestly’s favorite employee getting smashed by Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada.

Twitter user @keithcarian’s plans were foiled much like those of Asia O’Hara on Drag Race. Basically this year isn’t much different from when Asia hoped to walk the runway in a beautiful costume covered in butterflies as live butterflies were released––only to find out her real butterflies had died.

If you feel steamrolled by this year, you’re not the only one. For Twitter user @breannimator, it’s a lot like the scene in Pet Sematary, when young Gage is run over by a passing truck.

And then there’s Twitter user @throughfilms, whose plans for 2020 are sitting in a locked entryway while coronavirus is ranting and raging in a jeweler’s store à la Uncut Gems.

There are just so many.
