If you’re gonna blow that $2.5 billion, you better get busy.

Both the gaming and technology worlds were rocked yesterday when Microsoft confirmed the purchase of Mojang, the Swedish game studio that developed the mega-popular video game Minecraft, for $2.5 billion.

For the three founders of the company, that means a preposterous amount of cash. So Conan O’Brien suggested a way for Markus “Notch” Persson, the programmer who created Minecraft, to unload some of that green.

Notch said he’d be leaving Mojang after the purchase, because he never intended his game to get this huge and just wants to focus on being nerdy and making video games.

“It’s not about the money,” wrote Notch on his blog, after the purchase was officially announced. But even if he doesn’t care about the cash, Notch has a whole lot to not care about, probably for the rest of his life, unless maybe he follows Conan’s advice.
