Apple has reportedly invited a swath of fashion writers and editors to its big day, in what appears to be another big hint that the company will unveil a smartwatch. According to Reuters, Apple has looped the fashion world into its notoriously exclusive launch day event in unprecedented numbers, extending invites to publications like Marie Claire for the first time.
Apple’s courtship with the fashion world isn’t without precedent for the design-minded company, but its big device launch events generally focus on the technology press. If enduring rumors of an iWatch may finally come to pass this week, it would connect the dots between Apple’s rising interest in recruiting fashion talent from companies like Tag Heuer, Burberry, and Yves Saint Laurent and its vision for the future of wearable technology.
Apple is widely expected to unveil two new versions of the iPhone—one slightly larger than the current iPhone 5S and a 5.5″ device designed to tap into the phablet craze. On Tuesday, the iWatch could very well be the show-stealing “one more thing” we’ve been waiting for.
