Warning: Video contains extremely graphic medical content.
Here’s something you never realised you wanted to see: uncensored, gory footage of a real human heart transplant.
The video, uploaded to YouTube by the Portugese Instituto do Coraçåo, provides an intimiate window into the delicate medical procedure first carried out in 1968, from the initial incision through to the surgeon massaging the new heart into rhythm, Medical Daily reports.
Take six minutes and 13 seconds out of your day to have a watch, and marvel at how far we’ve come. Just make sure you haven’t eaten beforehand.
