2019-20 Premier League Newcastle vs Arsenal Lacazette Aubameyang

Arsenal had an almost Champions League-level season in 2018-19. The Gunners finished fifth in the Premier League and got to the Europa League finals, where they lost to fellow Prem team Chelsea, missing out on a chance to win their way into Champions League play. So it’s back to a Europa League schedule and a lot of Thursday-Sunday play for the Gunners this season, including their opener this Sunday. However, they seem determined this season to change that, as their summer of ambitious signings shows.

Both packages cost $5 per month after your free trial. Arsenal vs. Newcastle: What to watch for

Supposedly Arsenal was only going to spend $40 million in the summer transfer window, but it’s done much more than that in acquiring rights to some new key players. The most exciting addition may be Nicolas Pepe, the 24-year-old Ivorian winger who helped Lille to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 last year, and will help form a formidable attack with established strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. But one of the most recent Arsenal signings may be the most key when all is said and done: Kieran Tierney, a promising left back from Celtic and the Scottish national team. Arsenal’s got two regular defenders returning from knee injuries, and absolutely needed reinforcements headed into this season.

Newcastle has swapped out manager Rafa Benitez—seen by many as a miracle worker in his time there—with Steve Bruce, who most recently managed rivals Sunderland. It’ll be the first full season for Miguel Almiron, the Paraguayan who dazzled at Atlanta United during his time in MLS; and DeAndre Yedlin, a sometimes U.S. national team player, is still in the squad. Andy Carroll has recently come on board to bring it full circle, having grown up in their academy and starting his pro career with them from 2006 to 2011.
