Cats are delightfully strange creatures. During waking hours they seem to want little to do with the humans that provide them with shelter and sustenance, only to have a sudden need for food or attention (but most likely food) somewhere in the range of … oh, 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. This late night/early morning manifestation could take the form of anything from the dreaded zoomies to more intrusive face boops or foot attacks. Or for one lucky* cat owner, playing guitar?

Brooklyn-based journalist Chelsey B. Coombs shared the following video on Twitter over the weekend. “My cat wakes me up every morning (and at 4:30 AM sharp) by playing my guitar,” she tweeted.

And, sure enough, that cat is going whole hog on that guitar! The Feliway calming collar that the devious tuxie-moo cat appears to be wearing is clearly no match for his sick melodies.
But wait! As if that in itself isn’t charming enough, Coombs added another tweet: “Did I mention he sings?”

That is, uh, certainly one way of describing that noise. But as her tweets began to go viral, others chimed in to let Coombs know that she is not alone in having such an obviously talented cat.
“Collab?” wrote fellow cat owner Jason Oberholtzer, along with a video of his cat playing the piano.

To remind us that things could always be worse, musician Mitch Benn weighed in. “Fantastic,” he tweeted. “My girlfriend’s cat wakes me up at 6 a.m. by sitting on my chest, purring LOUDLY into my face and then, if that fails, punching me in the nose.”
Fantastic.

My girlfriend’s cat wakes me up at 6am by sitting on my chest, purring LOUDLY into my face and then, if that fails, punching me in the nose.
After the thread really blew up, Coombs added an adorable throwback update of her cat as a kitten sitting on an amp, writing that she should have been forewarned what he would eventually be capable of.
