In the early 1980s, the unthinkable happened in Canada: The country’s blood supply became tainted with HIV and Hepatitis C. Thousands were infected, culminating in one of the largest medical disasters in Canadian history and the Krever Inquiry.
Unspeakable delves deep into the tragedy. The eight-episode miniseries is largely based on two books, Bad Blood by Vic Parsons and The Gift of Death by Andre Picard, but Unspeakable brings its own unique perspective. Executive producer Robert C. Cooper (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) was one of the many individuals infected, which makes this project deeply personal. Unspeakable offers first-person experiences from three families who had to cope with the scandal and their fight for justice.
