Many a celebrity has claimed “hacking” after an unfortunate photo leak, but basketball star Kevin Durant may actually be telling the truth.

Durant, who plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder, claims his phone tweeted a photo of himself breathing out heavy smoke without his permission while he was busy going through airport security. Durant’s actually been open about his enjoyment of hookah since being spotted at a hookah bar in September, so the photo isn’t particularly damaging.

The picture only garnered attention, really, because it was taken down almost as quickly as it was posted. After sports media took note, Durant took to Twitter to claim he was hacked, adding that rude messages were sent to family members and friends.

His teammate, Nick Collison, backed up his story, saying he saw Durant going through TSA security at the same time the photo appeared on his Twitter timeline.

@Deadspin I saw the tweet come up on my timeline when he was outside the bus going through TSA security. He didn’t send it. Very weird.

Durant has since deleted this tweets, but Dime Mag reported they were as follows:

The tweets were certainly out of character for the image-conscious Durant. Here’s hoping it doesn’t spoil the chances of a Thunderstruck sequel.
