Last weekend, a man proposed to his now-fiancée in New York’s Central Park. Later, as the couple walked around Times Square, the picture-perfect moment was spoiled when the ring fell down a grate.
The New York Police Department posted surveillance video of the proposal and subsequent loss of the ring on Twitter saying they found the ring and wanted to find the couple to return it.
“WANTED for dropping his fiancée’s ring in Times Square! She said Yes – but he was so excited that he dropped the ring in a grate. Our NYPD Special Ops officers rescued it & would like to return it to the happy couple. Help us find them?” NYPD News tweeted on Saturday.

The NYPD was a few days late on locating the couple because they were only visiting and had already flown home to another country. Luckily, they’re still going to be able to return the ring.
“We would like to thank everyone who shared this story!” NYPD News tweeted. “The (now) happy couple is back in their home country, but thanks to your retweets they heard we were looking for them! We’re making arrangements to get them their ring back.”
