Last weekend, a man proposed to his now-fiancée in New York’s Central Park. Later, as the couple walked around Times Square, the picture-perfect moment was spoiled when the ring fell down a grate.
The New York Police Department posted surveillance video of the proposal and subsequent loss of the ring on Twitter saying they found the ring and wanted to find the couple to return it.
“WANTED for dropping his fiancée’s ring in Times Square! She said Yes – but he was so excited that he dropped the ring in a grate. Our NYPD Special Ops officers rescued it & would like to return it to the happy couple. Help us find them?” NYPD News tweeted on Saturday.

The Midtown North precinct also posted a photo of the cleaned ring, putting out a call to help find the man and woman in the video.

After the posts were shared far and wide on social media, the NYPD was able to track down the couple, John and Daniella.
“Thank you, Twitter. Case closed!” they wrote along with a photo of the couple.

The NYPD was a few days late on locating the couple because they were only visiting and had already flown home to another country. Luckily, they’re still going to be able to return the ring.
