This girl’s manicured hand really came through during her cousin’s proposal

He really should have known better.

Because we live in a culture of fairy tales and happily ever after, many Disney princess-obsessed little girls grow up dreaming of the moment their very own Prince Charming will propose and whisk them off into the sunset.

Yes, one could argue that the entire institution of marriage is an antiquated and patriarchal, deeply rooted in gender inequality. Sure! And furthermore, about 40 to 50 percent of marriages will end in divorce—although those statistics have been dropping as people wait longer to get married.

But for some, there’s just something inarguably magical about getting proposed to. To that point, it’s imperative that when it happens, everything goes just right—and preferably in the most photogenic way possible.

So what happens when your man (or lady!) pops the question but you’ve got some gnarly-ass, non-manicured nails? Such was the dilemma of one woman recently, but thankfully her cousin was on hand (pun intended) to help her capture the perfect bling shot.

“My cousin’s boyfriend proposed to her but she didn’t have her nails done,” wrote a woman named Jenna (@goodgaljenjen) on Twitter. Thankfully, with a freshly-manicured hand, she was able to come through for her cuz.

Now that is a friend. And also, pretty convenient that the ring happened to fit both her and her cousin? As her tweet went viral, many others chimed in to applaud Jenna’s resourcefulness and commitment to sisterhood:

Suffice to say, the ring photo was better than the one she took of the flowers, as another commenter pointed out:

At least one person was decidedly unimpressed however, blaming Instagram for the downfall of humanity:

Ehh, whatever. With all the misery going on in the world right now, I say let them have this one tiny moment of happiness. And also, at least there were no, say, avocados or candy bars harmed in this proposal. Because that would be just silly.
