Ramirez’s lawyer John Clune sent the message on her behalf, writing: “From Debbie Ramirez: ‘Thinking of you today, Christine. They want us to feel alone and isolated but I’m there wrapping my arms around you and I hope you feel the people of this nation wrapping their arms around all of us. Holding you up in spirit.’”

Ramirez said that Kavanaugh exposed his penis to her while both were students at Yale; Ford said that Kavanaugh cornered her in a bedroom, got on top of her, closed her mouth with his hand, turned up music to drown out noise, and was intent on raping her before she was able to get free and leave the room.

Clune has said that his client wants to speak with the Federal Bureau of Investigation but called the Senate Judiciary Committee “not suited to do this kind of investigation and she’s not going to cooperate with this kind of political theater” in an interview with CNN this morning.

As Ford’s testimony in front of the mostly male Senate Judiciary Committee proceeds through 21 rounds of questioning from 11 Republicans and 10 Democrats, thousands of Twitter users are praising her bravery. Many have called Ford an American hero for coming forward.
