Sir Ian McKellen played Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit, not to mention Magneto in X-Men, and he’s about to play an even greater role when he marries Patrick Stewart, also of Star Trek and X-Men fame. No, not that way.

McKellen has always been Internet-positive, particularly for a celebrity. During the long filming of The Lord of the Rings, he kept up The Grey Book, essentially liveblogging the filming, sometimes to the chagrin of director Peter Jackson. His credentials to perform the wedding came over the Internet, too. Good lad. That’s true nerd cred.

This scene comes from the second installment of the LOTR trilogy, The Two Towers, “the one in between.” In it, Gandalf the Grey confronts Theodin, the King of Rohan who has been possessed by the traitorous wizard Saruman. Through Theodin, Saruman mocks the dingy opponent, calling him “Stormcrow” and bidding him take his tattered self away. In response… well, see for yourself.

Now if only that wizard could wave his wand and sub me in for Stewart’s bride…le sigh.
